Hey, hey CHICAGO!!!!! We are coming for ya! That's right, we are headed to Chicago to host two different craft events with The Land of Nod! The first is a Mom's Night out at Studio Nod on March 1, from 6-8pm. We'll be teaching everyone how to hand-stamp your own tea towel! It's so fun and easy, we promise! And then, the next morning, March 2, from 10am-12pm, we'll be hosting a Kids Craft at the North & Clybourn store! Your kiddos can build their very own pipe cleaner and straw sculpture! We couldn't be more excited to hop on the plane and get to crafting in Chicago! We hope you'll come see us! If you can make it to either (or both) events, RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org! More details below!

Pop the champagne! Sugar Plum embraces the fizzy, sparkly, glitz of the holiday season! Jewel tones have played a major role in the past, but 2015 embraces the spectrum of lighter hues. Pastels are a surprising and refreshing twist on a holiday palette! Think blush, lavender and sky blue. Pastel pink is a big player and looks rich mixed with metallics. And, as we think of metallics for this look, keep in mind the whole range of matte gold, glittery bronze, and smooth rose gold!
To bring this look to life, we envisioned this Mixed Media Garland draped across the wall! We created and gathered all of the pieces but realized, hanging it might get really tricky. And, it turns out, without our new favorite Command products, it definitely would've been a nightmare. This look could've caused too many holes in the wall than we'd like to imagine. We're SO thankful we were partnering with Command on this!! And here is where Command™ Brand products are genius. We have loved Command™ products forever, but didn’t realize they had a whole collection of products designed specifically for throwing a party! There are a range of hooks specifically for hanging balloons or honeycombs from the walls and ceiling and others designed for hanging banners. We put a new twist on the awesome Command™ Party Banner Anchors and used them in layers to create this look. You guys, seriously, we were giddy! We sounded like a Command commercial the way were were going on and on about how awesome they were!
We have some HUGE news to share today that has been so hard to keep to ourselves! Finally, we get to announce our gift collection for HMK!!!! HMK is a new Hallmark Cards experience with stores in Kansas City, Missouri, Denver, Colorado and Southlake, Texas. It's a card, gift and accessory shop with a really unique product mix that brings together innovative tools and technologies with a fun and reimagined approach to shopping! Plus, they are highlighting makers in a unique way and have formed some really cool partnerships. We are just thrilled that we get to be one of them!!!
We've got two gift collections, one with crazy fun color...
And another that is black, white and gold! So we've got your covered for whatever mood you're in!
This collaboration is especially fun for us because Hallmark Cards is where both of us got our first jobs right out of design school! So, as you might imagine, taking the leap to start our own company was a BIG (scary) decision and having our little company now partnering with HMK makes us feel like we have come full circle! So, for all of our Kansas City friends, please make sure you stop by the HMK 1910 store on the Country Club Plaza for all these fun goodies!
If you pick up anything, make sure to show us what you got! Tag @ampersandstudio on instagram and twitter and use #AmpersandforHMK!
Oh and PS...there's even more to come soon!!!
Hey everyone, Morgan here! I'm taking over the blog today to share the nursery I created for my second little boy, Lennon!
I wanted the room to have a calming feeling with a cool vibe, so, naturally, I went with a little bit of a beachy theme! We already had the crib, dresser/changing table and bookshelf from when we first did this room for our now-four-year-old son. So I worked with the white and natural wood and mixed in some indigo blue, sea foam green and natural textures! And of course, I'm a total pattern lover, so there are plenty of those thrown in on the pillows, pouf, changing pad and simple stripe sheets! Check back here later today for the full mood board and product round-up! Lennon's California Dreamin' nursery turned out to be the most perfect fit for his cool, laid-back personality. I suppose we did get to know him a bit since I didn't actually finish the nursery until a couple of months after he was born! All of these beautiful photos were taken by the one and only Allison Corrin Photography. She is such a joy to partner with! Thanks to Allison for capturing these little moments in time!
I found the sheets, changing pad cover, and cool, modern nautical pillows at Unison Home! Have you guys checked out their site? I fell in love with their modern patterns for home decor and I was SO glad to discover they had things for baby & kids, too!
And YOU GUYS! This color weave toy box from The Land of Nod adds the most perfect natural texture and color to the room! I kept feeling like something was missing until this guy showed up and thens suddenly, it felt complete!!
This baby gym from Ikea has been such a bit hit and it's so affordable! Highly recommend it! The cool part is, when your babe starts sitting up, the little colored pieces on the top move back and forth and can be pulled up and down, too...so this little gym can stay with you through a few play stages. And, THIS RUG (from Nod, of course) !!!!!!! It's seriously the softest, most luxurious texture! Perfect for a nursery because if you are anything like us, we spend a lot of time on the floor!
I couldn't love this mini banner more! It's by Sharp Tooth Studio on Etsy and I can't help but love that the artist is originally from Kansas City, too!
I'm a sucker for a gallery wall! When I saw this whale clock, I knew it was the perfect addition to the rest of the art I had collected! (Check the next post for the full mood board and source links)
These Uncle Goose modern wooden blocks are getting passed down from Shaw to Lennon. Thank goodness for wooden toys that last!
And moments like THIS happening inside this tiny little nursery. I can hardly handle it. My heart could literally explode when I see my two boys playing together! I could never have imagined the instant bond that these two would have, it still surprises me each day. Thanks again to Allison Corrin Photography for capturing these little moments!
We just wanted to thank The Nelson Atkins Museum for inviting us to demonstrate our art for their "The Artist is IN" event this past weekend! We painted our Kansas City totes and hand made charms. We were thrilled to be creating our own pieces in one of the most inspiring spaces we could imagine! And...thank you to all our friends and family who stopped by! If you stopped by, you got a little preview or our brand new bag charms for 2015! What a way to kick off 2015! Cheers to the new year, everyone!
