8 days a week: thank you to jordan clark

Ampersand Design Studio

We are so happy to introduce you to Jordan Clark, the owner of ScatterBrained collars. Jordan makes the most amazing and fun pet accessories that we've ever seen. She does bow ties collars like the one below, fabric flower collars, leashes and so much more! You have to check them out here! Jordan made the adorable bow tie along with a (human) headband :) and two pillows! Biggest thanks to Jordan for volunteering your time and sharing your darling collar set with us and for being so versatile in your sewing. She can do it all! Plus, her company was born from her love of animals and she works with her local shelters and rescues in her home state of Mississippi! What's not to love about that?! Thanks, Jordan!

8 Days a Week: thank you to Monica Spiehs

Ampersand Design Studio

We are so excited to introduce you to Monica Spiehs and her mad sewing and pattern designing skills! We can't even express how lucky we were that Monica volunteered to help us with our sewing projects! She was a rock star taking on so many pieces and designing them as well. We just gave her a few thoughts on what we were looking for and she made them come to life! She made the a-line skirt in the yellow polka dot fabric, worn by Michelle from her own design. Then, she created the little numbers dress with the ruffled sleeves for her own daughter, Lilli. We can't even handle the cuteness of both, the dress and Lilli! Really, are you kidding with how darling that dress and all its little details are (the yellow buttons, the pink top stitching... ahhh!)? Then, there's the baby romper, modeled by sweet Amya! Another dose of sweetness overload, no?! We just loved the ideas Monica had for how to make our fabrics come to life! We are pestering her to start making patterns for the rest of us to use because they are just too good not to be out there in the world! As if those weren't enough amazing projects for her to take on, she did our flag banner as well. So cute for a nursery or kid's playroom, don't you think? Monica: thank you doesn't even cut it. We are so grateful for your talent! Thank you for your time and generosity and for supplying one of our lovely models! We can't even wait to see what Monica is up to next. We are hopeful it includes some patterns for her designs or some kid's clothes!

8 Days a Week: thank you to Shari Shobe

Ampersand Design Studio

Shari Shobe of Bear Creek Quilting Company in Washington created this amazing quilt for 8 Days a Week! Isn't it beautiful!? We were so excited to see Shari's design in person when we got it in the mail for our photoshoot! Shari custom designs handmade quilts and as she says, she "allows the elegance and beauty of the fabric inspire her  to create beautiful personalized hand crafted quilts that are meant for everyday use and enjoyment." We absolutely love what she came up with from our fabrics! Bear Creek Quilting Company is also an online shop selling quilting fabrics, fabric bundles, patterns, books, notions and tools. Shari also showed at the International Quilt Market in Houston this past October, and the quilt she made from our fabrics was proudly displayed in Windham's booth there, as well. Shari was such a joy to work with and we are so thankful she loaned her talents to our collection! Thank you, Shari!

And guess what? If you are a wholesale account and would like to carry this pattern or order it for one of your customers, we have a treat for you! This quilt pattern is called  "A Special Day" and can be ordered by wholesale customers with a style number of 37466!

8 Days a Week: thank you to Margaret Schemmel

Ampersand Design Studio

We were so fortunate to have Margaret Schemmel on our sewing squad! She took on some complex pieces: a little hexagon ball toy and a crib skirt, plus our calendar pillow! Thank you doesn't even cut it! She was so generous with her time and carefully thought through issues that making a crib skirt presents (how high is the crib mattress? Do you want pleats or not?) She just really had it together before we did on the crib skirt, and we are so grateful because the end results were just beautiful. We want to have a bunch of those little hexagon balls to give to our kiddos and as gifts for all new babies! If any of you want one, too, you can refer to this tutorial. This is originally a pin cushion, but we thought it made such a cute ball, too. Margaret is a graphic designer and used Illustrator to make her own pattern pieces as a guide. For the crib skirt, she made up her own design, using a crib mattress as a guide.
The pillow was piece quilted using different sections from the various fabrics. We love how she used our calendar grid and made a precious keepsake out of it. We love how this design can work for any milestone (wedding anniversary, baby's birthdate, the options are endless..) Thank you, Margaret, so much for sharing your creativity, resourcefulness and sewing talent! We were so lucky to get to collaborate with you! We really hope to team up again in the future!

8 Days a Week: thank you to Madi Sharp

Ampersand Design Studio

We are so excited to introduce you to Madi Sharp, another one of our amazing collaborators on our sewing projects! Madi is in her last year of school as a graphic design student in St. Louis, Missouri where she is in the process of designing her first fabric collection for school as well as a series of screen prints. Check out her online portfolio here! She is currently doing an internship with Lotta Jansdotter, one of our favorites and another designer for Windham. Madi likes to sew and sell things at craft shows on the side, and we are so thankful she offered to share her talent and time with us!
Please look at the cuteness Madi crafted for us:

Madi made the darling headband/ turban modeled by lovely Michelle was created using this pattern. She altered it a bit to include elastic, since our fabric is a quilting weight, and therefore, not stretchy by itself. She used this headband pattern to help her include elastic.

Madi also made the black and white striped pillow in the center of the photo above. Isn't it cute?! She did it without a pattern, but here is a similar pattern.

Thank you, Madi, for finding time to help us! We know you have a full schedule, and we really appreciate it!
